… nous verrons l’imagination construire des « murs » avec des ombres impalpables, se réconforter avec des illusions de protection — ou, inversement trembler derrière des murs épais, douter des plus solides remparts. - Gaston Bachelar, La poétique de l’espace.

I’ve been thinking for a while about the similarities between scientists and artists. Of course, I don’t mean to diminish either one as a creative and professional pursuit, but I do want to lay out what, from my point of view, unites us as “exhibitors.”

My background in the artistic world comes from an amateur’s seat in the audience, where I feed my curiosity about the creative process through books, discussions, podcasts, and exhibitions too. But what has left me most certain of the following points of convergence has been all the talks and discussions about an artist’s life and experience: how they live, how they suffer, how they approach those who look at them with curiosity, or perhaps how they pull away, afraid of being seen through their first creations, and at the end of the day, how they try not to lose their sanity while they keep extending a part of themselves to the audience.
